Windows programs require the Windows operating system to be installed on a Mac. Windows can be installed (using the Boot Camp utility) and the Mac restarted so it is just running Windows like any other computer running Windows or it can be run in a virtual machine (using Parallels or Fusion etc.) which will put Windows in a Window on top of Snow Leopard. Hardly. Mac OS X has a very sophisticated way of handling processes, which allows the system and other programs to keep running even in the event of a software crash. In fact, almost every time a software crashes, the message following the crash reads "Mac OS X and other programs are not affected". This should be true for running Windows on virtualization as well.

Mac OS Leopard (& Snow Leopard) is not. As with any system, there is a learning curve, so be patient. Most people initially hate Mac systems. Why? Because they do not understand the programs (being use to Windows based programs). BEST BET: go try working on an apple computer at an apple store, or ask a friend who has one to teach you. They are great once you get know them.
