A person can get Windows 7 to manage wireless connections by enabling the wireless network manager under the control panel. Windows will then remember all connections made and automatically connect to them when in range.
because the wireless is broadcasting it's signal, you can turn it off to the outside world in Windows 7, not sure of XP anymore LOL

If you have the Fn button on your computer press it while pressing the F2(it should be a tower with signal coming out(if not locate it on the top)) on the button. A box should pop up on your screen saying you disconnected it If you don't have that go to your Wireless Connection on your computer and click disable. You should have a button on your toolbar for it if not go to your control panel then click wireless and internet connections I hope this helps you!
