Plug it in, open folder with music in and then in a different window wherever you want to put the music. Simply drag and drop the files/folders in. You can back up your phone to the iCloud and it will automatically be available on your Mac. If you do not have an Apple phone, you'll have to sync it via iTunes to your Mac.
