It does not disappear but can go to the side of page. This happens when the size of picture can be very large.
To insert a picture from a USB drive into Microsoft PowerPoint, first connect the USB drive to your computer. In Word 2007 there is a picture icon in the Insert ribbon, in Word 2003 and older you find Insert > Picture in the menus.
Go to PowerPoint, and select "new slide" then select "insert" and then select add photo.

Video cannot be added by drag and drop from disk. It should be added from insert menu and then video.
