To set a password on virtually any wireless router you can do the following: First, go to "Start" and "Run." Type in "cmd" without the quotes. When the Command Prompt comes up type in the following, without quotes: "ipconfig" Locate the box that says "IP Address" and remember that number. Go to your default internet browser and type in that number. (Note: If it does not work, when typing the "IP Address" in the internet browser, type the following, without quotes: "192.168.1.1" or "10.1.1.1") If a box comes up asking for the login and password, it is probably either blank or of the following: Username: admin Password: admin or Password: admin Now go to "Advanced Setup." Click on "WEP" and select "Enable" and choose either 64 bit or 128 bit encryption. Click the box called "Passphrase" and type in what you want the password to be. Click "Save Settings." Click on "WEP" again and remember what Key 1 is. (Note: This is important.) Now you can set all users to this. If you didn't change settings yet, you can find default username (I think it's admin) and password in the router manual.
Find your router in network list and connect to your router. You might need to put proper settings in your router for DHCP server and wlan connection.
If you are trying to connect to it via wireless Windows allows you to store the password on the computer for the wireless network so you only have to put the password in once per computer. If you are setting up multiple computers you can save the password in a notepad document and place that on a USB key. If you want to take a password off of the wireless network you can connect to the wireless router (please see user documentation for the router) and disable wireless encryption. This however is strongly discouraged because anyone can access an unencrypted wireless network.

You need to make sure that your wireless adapter supports the security. Check if the network requires WPA2, if does and you cannot connect to it, it means your adapter can't work with and the router has to configured to work with first generation of WPA.
Check security setting for wireless network in your router settings. Some routers allow to see the key, some mask it with asterisks. If your router masks the key (in router settings), you have to put a new key, if you want to connect more computers.
Simply go into settings on your iPod touch and go to "Wi-Fi" which is located at the very top of the settings page. Find you router on the list of wireless connections and simply tap it to connect. If you have put a password on your router you will be required to enter your password.
Check the wireless network properties, one of settings is security for wireless networks. If you want a definite answer you need to show your router's model.
It depends on the kind of router you have. If you have a westell, it would tell you when you put in 192.168.1.254 as your URL. Linksys routers dont tell you but, you could put security on the router so only your household can acess it. I say Wep is best as a security. For any other kind of router, type in 192.168.1.1 in the Url. admin is the default password. Hope this helps.
