If the wire you refer to is the one that comes into the house from the street, you could have a WiFi router attached to that wire so that you could use WiFi enabled PCs in any room of the house.If "wired" means that the router is connected to your PC with a Cat5 cable, or wire, then no you are not using WiFi. The PC could still be WiFi enabled but with no WiFi connection to the router you can't use the facility.
