You have RROD Or RLOD aka red ring of death or red light of death
Meaning that your systems CPU chip has over heated and melted the solder around it creating the soldering bridges, soldering bridge is when 2 different components melt into one.
So what you can do
before you do anything disconnect everything from your xbox that is attached to it, Pull out the hard drive then clean the xbox very well with air dust can then put it back together put in harddrive and attach all the accessories back and see if it works if so great if not
now go on YouTube and find guy named Gilsky he shows how to take PS3 and Xbox apart and how to resolder the CPU and it will work again.
OR
You can send it to Microsoft and they will charge you money unless its still on warranty.
that means you got two of the four parts of the red ring of death
The red ring of death represents hardware falure. contact xbox if you see any red lights on your xbox. they are all bad. if you see 3 red flashing lights, that is the red ring of death.
get a new xbox (its dead)
Three red rings on your Xbox 360 means a complete breakdown. There is no way to fix this by yourself without knowing how (And that's REALLY hard) So your going to have to send it in to Xbox corporation.
If your Xbox has three red lights, it most likely means you have some form of Red Rings. You need to contact Microsoft, and check to see if your warranty is still covering your Xbox 360. If not, you probably will have to buy a new one.
Two red lights mean that the Xbox 360 is overheating. This is not caused by the hard drive but more likely by the location that the xbox is in, or if it was run for an overly extended period of time. The hard drive is still usable and can be safely used on the new xbox.
You can only get it fixed or replaced if you get the three red lights or if your xbox is still in warranty and it breaks! You get 3 years warranty if you get the 3 lights and 1 year if it breaks another way!
That's what a lot of people are saying,"Oh no!! The red rings of death appeared on my Xbox. Now it dead forever!" However, most of these people are wrong. I believe if you look in the Xbox manuel, the red lights have codes. Like my Xbox had red lights on the third and first player ring sections. However, this meant my Xbox overheated and came back to life in 3 hours.
dont over use it at least use it for 10hrs a day
This happened to my xbox, it was fine to begin with but then failed. this is because the hardrive in the xbox is broken. To resolve this you must send it off to xbox. if you bought the xbox within 3 years you still have the warranty this means you can have it fixed for free http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/xbox360/ you can do it via Internet or phone i did it over the Internet and it came back within a week as is trustworthy, hope this helps
It depends what you mean: If you mean should people refer to it as just 'red ring', then the answer is no, as it doesn't emphasise the way that it causes the Xbox to effectivfely 'die', meaning that it is no longer usable. Additionally, 'red ring' may be referring to the way that all four lights light up red when the output is not connected to any device (e.g. the Xbox 360 is not plugged into a TV). If you are asking whether Microsoft should stop the red ring from causing the Xbox 360 to stop working, you have been misinformed. The red ring doesn't actually cause the Xbox 360 to break. Instead it is a side-effect or a warning message as a result of a problem with the Xbox 360.
You put it out. then paste the red ring of death on the lights and your golden. If Microsoft asks, just say i left it on.
