A server is a repository of information and a gateway to other sources of information (e.g. the internet). Depending on the number of workstations it serves and the type of information they are accessing the server may be quite powerful or it may be an old P4 system made into a server. Again, its main job is to store information so that the connected workstations can use it and to provide a gateway to other sources of information namely the Internet. The software used for servers is specifically designed for those tasks. An example of a simple server is a modern router - either wireless or wired. It contains its own server software, typically a form of Linux, and acts as a gateway to the internet allowing connected workstations to access it. It also provides some protection in the form of firewalls and passwords.
A server network is a computer that links devices together. and a desktop is known as a PC(Personal Computer) for a home user, business, etc use.
A desktop application is installed on a single desktop computer, the data is stored locally on that computer or perhaps on a network server. Other desktop applications might be installed on a network server, they are local to that network. Web applications run via a web server, the program and data are available anywhere the Internet is available.
Desktop computers are intended to use at home or at office at the same place. they don't have integrated the screen, keyboard and mouse Server computers are designed to be used to be a server (such as a web server, sql server or other) Laptop computers are made for taking them to travel. they are smaller and they have screen, keyboard and mouse integrated hope this helps
1.With server OS we can manage desktop OS. Server Os is higher version of Desktop OS. 2.server OS gives centralised administration for users shared resources higher security. But Desktop OS gives local machine administration only. 3.Server OS is fully covered & managed security. For (ex) Domain Controller application server print server etc. We make server with security. for Desktop OS Normal PC. We make low level security.

Server OS's usually have no/minimal user interface, and only do as much as they are supposed to do. Desktop OS's on other hand usually have robust GUI's and feature support for lots of things never or rarely used by servers(printers, bluetooth, WiFi, etc.)

File Server hosts data that can be accessed by Users according to the permissions specified. The difference between the server and domains is fairly simple. The server is the system on which the entire functions rest, and the domains are pages within that system. Imagine the server as a neighborhood and domains as houses.
Desktop support is the one doing the troubleshooting on hand. Helpdesk support is the one receiving the call and troubleshoot it remotely
