If the airline provides a wifi service, then you may use the wifi provided on the plane, however, their may be an associated cost. If there is no wifi service, you may use local services, but not be able to connect to the internet. You may use all electronics only after the 'fasten seatbelt' sign has been turned off.
Yes, you can use a WiFi connection with this laptop with no problems.

No. Even if a laptop has internet, it does not work while flying on an airplane, because there is no Wi-Fi on an airplane, or in the sky.

Adding detail to my question... I have a laptop that has full wifi, and another with no wifi, and it cannot use an adapter... Is there any way I can connect wirelessly to a spare router I have, as well as my internet enabled router (I have a USB WiFi adapter I could use to make 2 connections), and then connect the laptop with no wifi to the spare router via ethernet to get internet? The laptop with wifi is windows 8, and the other is fedora 19. Thanks!
To get WiFi anywhere on your laptop, you can connect to a wireless network by selecting the network name (SSID) from the available networks list and entering the password if required. You can also use a portable WiFi hotspot device or a mobile data plan to access the internet on your laptop.
I set up my obsolete laptop as a temporary wifi hotspot. If that is what you are asking, then yes.

The fact that your other laptop can connect to wifi is irrelevant to whether or not you have disabled wifi on the laptop that is reporting that wifi is disabled. Go into your settings and make sure you haven't inadvertently turned it off.
