The time values for sleep, hibernate etc. are pre-set. You can change the values at any time - by clicking the Power Settings option in Control Panel. You can lengthen the time the computer waits before going into sleep mode. Use the drop-down menus to change the length of time - even setting it to 'never' - if you don't want it to go into sleep mode at all.
You can always restore the original settings once you've finished downloading etc.
