Boiling occurs on the surface of a liquid that has reached its boiling point. This also includes on the surface of any imperfections in the water, known as nucleation sites. These imperfections in water are often harmless, and are any other small particles that are in it. These imperfections are responsible for the rolling surface of a boiling pot of water. The water at a nucleation site expands into a gas, and bubbles to the surface of the water. In a perfectly distilled pot of water, in a perfectly smooth sided pot (tiny microscopic scratches in the surface of a pot can be nucleation sites too) the water would only steam at the surface, and no bubbles would form in it.

Why is boiling called a bulk phenomenon?

Boiling occur in the entire volume of a liquid.

How does vaporization relate to evaporation and boiling.?

Vaporization occur at the boiling point and from the total volume of the liquid.Evaporation occur at any temperature but only from the surface of the liquid.

What is different evaporation and vaporization?

Evaporation occur at the surface of a liquid and at any temperature under the boiling point.Vaporization occur only at the boiling point and in the entire volume of the liquid.

What is liquid to gas evaporation called?

1. When the phenomenon occur at a temperature under the boiling point, at the surface of a liquid, the term is evaporation.2. When the phenomenon occur at the boiling point, in all the volume of the liquid, the term is boiling.

Why is it important to state the pressure at which boiling points occur?

It is important because boiling points are dependent onthe pressure.

What is the temperature for boiling water to start evaporating?

Evaporation occur at any temperature.Boiling occur at 100 oC.

When water boils it evaporates?

Evaporation occur at any temperature, boiling only at the boiling point - 100 oC at standard pressure.

Does evaporation or boiling occur more quickly?

Boiling occurs more quickly than evaporation. Boiling is the rapid vaporization of a liquid when it is heated to its boiling point, whereas evaporation is the slower process of a liquid turning into a gas at temperatures below its boiling point.

Where gas change occur at the?

The gas is transformed in a liquid under the boiling point.

What temperature does boiling water get to when it starts to evaporate?

Evaporation occur at any temperature.

Why is boiling dependent on pressure?

Boiling is dependent on pressure because the pressure affects the boiling point of a substance. When the pressure is higher, the boiling point of a substance is also higher, and when the pressure is lower, the boiling point is lower. This is because pressure affects the vapor pressure of the substance, which needs to equal the atmospheric pressure for boiling to occur.

What is considered boiling water and at what temperature does it occur?

Boiling water is when water reaches a temperature of 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius) at sea level.
