Fat does store energy, but you won't be able to burn it too well if you do not have good muscle mass. Fat is very essential in storing our nutrients needed for a good immune system, and lipids store glucose, that synthesize into sugar for energy. Older people stand better against diseases with a healthy amount of fat. One of the biggest threats to the elderly is being too skinny, thus susceptable to illness.Fats can be decieving if you don't know your healthy fats. Omega 3 fats are unsaturated, and digest better. The common 'cheese burger fat' is unhealthy, and to much of this can lead to obesity and diabeties.
