An adult woman weighing 110lbs who does practically no physical activity will burn at least 1300 calories per day just sitting still. The higher a woman's body mass and the more active she is, the more she will burn and she could need up to 3000 calories a day for intensive athletes.

It is important not to consume less than what your body needs, especially if you want to lose weight. If you are getting less than your resting energy requirement (the energy required for body and brain function without exercise) your metabolism will go into survival mode and your weight loss may come to a stand still.
It is better to eat enough to fulfill all your daily nutrient needs, and then exercise to burn any extra calories.
