Meat is not necessarily the most fattening part of your diet. If you would like to be a vegetarian that's fine, there are lots of good reasons to be a vegetarian (although I personally still eat meat) but that does not in itself guarantee that you will lose weight. What matters for weight loss is your total calorie consumption, no matter what kind of food you are eating.
