You are still digesting and producing increased acid and digestive enzymes in your stomach. Lying down places the esophagus and inlet of the stomach low enough to have acid reflux back up into your throat. This will eventually lead to scarring and what is known as "gastro-esophageal reflux disease". It usually causes an additional load on your kidneys and production of urine - so often leads to night awakening to urinate. Some people also report that it leads to increased dreaming and restless sleep.
Well I think it could be a bad idea for children to eat cheese and chocolate or most things before they go to bed it will cause nightmares. I think you can try to eat chocolate 2 to 3 hours before you go to sleep (Or more).

Avoid coffee, cigarettes and alcohol 3 to 6 hours before bedtime. Establish a regular schedule and routine for going to bed. Don't eat a big meal before bed.

Literally 6am to midnight ! They have to be awake long before their guests - in order to prepare breakfast - and need to stay awake late - in case a guest wants something to eat or drink before they go to bed !
Probably no real problem with this. If a grapefruit is bad to eat before bed, then whatever the issue is must be grossly overstated.

My suggestions are to eat 2 meals a day and to make sure that there is no snacking in between. An example would be to eat before 6 pm and have at least 3 to 4 hours before going to bed. Have an interval of at least 12 hours until breakfast next morning.
