During the late Cretaceous, when T-rex lived, North America was split in two by the Western Interior Seaway. Fossils of Tyrannosaurus rex have been found in what was the western half of North America, and their fossils have been found in states like South Dakota, Colorado, and Montana, as well as possible footprints in New Mexico. The habitat that they lived in was swampland.

Tyrannosaurus Rex fossils have only ever been found in the Western part of North America. Specimens have been found in Alberta & Saskatchewan in Canada and Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota & Wyoming in the USA.

3 Sub Tyrannosaur species have also been found Mongolia (Tyrannosaurus Movojilovi, Tyrannosaur Efremovi & Tyrannosaur Bataar). All 3 were smaller than their American Cousins. T-Rex measured approx 10-14m compaired with T-Bataar (8-12m), T-Movojilovi (6m) and T-Efremovi (7-8m).
