The attack on the United States of America with the events of September 11, 2001 were not accidents, but premeditated, intentional acts of terrorism orchestrated by affiliates of Al-Qaeda, the extremist Sunni Islamist militant group founded by, now deceased, Osama bin Laden. These terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners filled with passengers, and crashed them into three buildings (Two high rise towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and the U.S. Department of Defense Pentagon building in Virginia), while the fourth one (of uncertain target), was thwarted by heroic passengers who intervened, resulting in the plane doing a vertical nose-dive crash into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
