Stamps are not based on distance, but rather on weight. Therefor, 1 stamp should be plenty of postage for a standard letter.
It depends on how much it weighs. A typical letter will take enough stamps to equal the First Class rate, which is currently 44 cents.
If it is just a normal weight letter, a $.41 stamp will do. Yup :)
