We dilute our juices (which we only get not from concentrate). The amount we dilute varies from juice to juice but it can be as high as 3:4 parts water or as little as 1:4 parts water. We do this for several reasons:

  • Healthier for a variety of reasons but a simple web search should tell you. Mainly to do with having a higher fluid intake, less sugar and less acidity which is better for the stomach and the teeth.
  • Cost. We have a large family, if it costs £4 for 2 liters of Orange Juice by diluting at 1:2 parts water we have doubled the amount of orange juice for the same price.
  • Better on the environment, if we all did it there would be more fruit to go around, less travel and the overall cost of juice would drop as the demand dropped.

How do you neutralize Orange juice acid?

To neutralize the acidity of orange juice, you can add a small amount of baking soda, which is a mild alkaline substance. Start with a pinch and stir well, tasting as you go to avoid over-neutralizing, as too much can affect the flavor. Alternatively, you can mix orange juice with a less acidic liquid, such as water or milk, to dilute its acidity.
