Earl will spread wind and rain throughout much of eastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia. Some wind and rain will also occur not too far from the coast throughout DelMarVa and New Jersey, up into southern and eastern New England. Wind is always considerably greater right on the water, and the only locations expected to experience tropical storm conditions away from the coast are in extreme eastern North Carolina.
Yes, Vermont does get tornadoes. But hurricanes are unlikely as its is somewhat inland and full-fledged hurricanes in New England are rare enough as it is. And the fact that Vermont is some distance inland makes it unlikely that a storm will still be a hurricane by the time it reaches the state. That said, it is still possible for Vermont to get a tropical storm or feel the effects of a hurricane's outer bands.
a place where you can go during a hurricane if u dnt feel comfortable in ur own home
Out at sea, a hurricane churns just the surface of the ocean. Fish that live near the surface do feel a little turbulence, but research suggests that they may avoid the washing-machine motion by swimming a little deeper. In general, a hurricane is no big deal for a fish out at sea
Yes, earthquakes are an affect of plate tectonics.
Currently, as of August 20, 2012 there is one active hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean. Currently this hurricane, name Gordon, is moving toward Portugal but is expected to weaken and lose its tropical characteristics before hitting there so that it will not longer be a hurricane when it gets there. There is also a tropical disturbance further south that is becoming better organized. If it continues to develop it could become a hurricane in the next few days. It is still too early to tell where it will go.
