First of all, two different polls of scientists working in the field of climate science found that 97 per cent believed that global warming is real and that human activity was a substantial cause. Statistically, the samples in both cases were large enough to provide confidence in their accuracy, but we need only take from these studies that most climate scientists believe that global warming is man made.

A survey of Americans in 2009 found that 57 per cent thought that global warming was caused by human activities, down from 71 per cent the previous year, with just 33 per cent saying they believed global warming is not true.
