Rift basins are formed when tectonic forces pull apart the Earth's crust, creating a low-lying area where sediments can accumulate. As the crust stretches and thins, the basin becomes deeper and wider, eventually filling with sediment deposits. These basins often evolve into areas of active sedimentation and can eventually develop into new ocean basins if the process continues.
No, rift valleys are typically formed by divergent boundaries, where tectonic plates are moving apart. As the plates separate, the Earth's crust stretches and breaks, creating a depression that forms the rift valley. This process can eventually lead to the formation of new ocean basins.
rift valley Answer 2 Continents are formed when continental plates pull apart.
Rift basins are depressions within the crust and lithosphere that are associated with extensional tectonics. The presence of active normal faulting itself, creates the accomodation space for sedimentary infill within grabens and half graben structures.

Rift block mountain and rift block valley are landforms that are created by the movement of tectonic plates. Rift block mountains are formed when blocks of the Earth's crust are uplifted along fault lines, creating mountain ranges. Rift block valleys are formed when blocks of the Earth's crust are dropped down between two parallel faults, creating low-lying valleys. These landforms are commonly found in rift zones, where tectonic plates are moving away from each other.

The lakes in the Great Rift Valley were primarily formed through tectonic activity, as the rift is a divergent boundary where tectonic plates are pulling apart. This tectonic movement created depressions, or basins, that filled with water from rainfall and geothermal springs. Over time, these basins evolved into the various lakes we see today, such as Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika. Additionally, volcanic activity in the region contributed to the formation and shaping of these lakes.
When the crust of the Earth is thin and ruptured, it can lead to the formation of rift valleys, such as the East African Rift. This process can also result in the formation of new ocean basins through seafloor spreading.
The rift valley was formed when the continents divided it split open a large area in Africa and formed The Great Rift Valley.
A rift valley is a linear-shaped lowland between highlands or mountain ranges created by the action of a geologic rift or fault. These valleys are formed when the Earth's crust is pulled apart, leading to the sinking and stretching of the land. Rift valleys are often sites of tectonic activity and can be associated with the formation of new ocean basins.

i would have to say, basins in rift valleys. but if i am wrong, let me know what it really is.

rift valleys
They started off by a midcontinet rift which created the a basin for the Lake Superior. The Saint Lawrence rift which created the basin for Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Non of these basins were even close to being filled up with water until around 10,000 years ago. The Laurentide sheet then retreated and left a lot of melt water which then filled the basins which became the Great Lakes. This took a little more than a billion years from start to what it is today.
Mountains,volcanoes,trenches,earthquakes,faults,mid-ocean ridges ,rift valleys, widened ocean basins, and deep sea vents are all examples of geological features and events formed by plate movement. Hope this helped!
