Should you add chlorine to your water?

Drinking water? Of course not! For the purification of the pool, maybe. That's why people who swim too much get red eyes...

What do you do if your chlorine level is too high?

Nothing you just wait for it to go down. if you have a salt water pool there is usually an aadjustment to reduce the chlorine level,

What are two interesting facts about chlorine?

used in world war 1 and killed lots of people some interesting facts about chlorine is that chlorine is extremely important for the production of ice cream. Chlorine is also used to purify water and is used in bleaches.

Can chlorine cause respiratory damage?

Yes it can cause severe respiratory damage to the human body . People who swim in public pools have to be careful because a public pool has to keep the chlorine levels higher than you would keep it in your private pool. When a pool owner shocks his or her pool you shouldn't swim in it until the chlorine levels have had a chance to to drop to normal readings, because the high chlorine could harm you. One sign that there is too much chlorine is burning eyes. Another believe it or not is heartburn. So please take a minute or two to ask questions about the water you are going to swim in because you are sure to swallow some during the day.

What does chlorine taste like?

Yes. A bad one too. If you swim at an outdoor or public pool, you will have smelled the chlorine that is added to clean the water. The taste is the same. Chlorine is used in the process or water purification and it can sometimes be tasted in your drinking water. Too much chlorine in your drinking water can cause erosive esophagitis. Its similar to heartburn but harder to get rid of.

What do you do if there is too much chlorine in your pool?

Just wait it out the chlorine will dissipate after a couple of days. if you have a salt water pool turn the chlorine generator down or run the filter less often if possible.

If after shocking with chlorine shock and still doesnt register on strips is pool safe to swim in?

Be careful when testing for chlorine. No chlorine will have a clear reading but too much chlorine will cause bleaching of the test reagent confusing you to think you have no chlorine in the pool, try doing a dilution test where you dilute half pool water and half tap water, If coloured results appear with dilution you know you have too much chlorine. Swimming with too much chlorine can cause skin rashes irritations, discolouring of swim wear rotting the stitches, and blacken jewellry.

What effect does too much chlorine in the body do?

How can you tell when too much chlorine has been used in a pool?

when that persons eyes are burning or when there body is burning

How do you know if there is too much chlorine in a pool?

Use a test strip or test kit. They will tell you your chlorine level. You want it between a 1 and a 3.

Even after shocking 2 times chlorine will not register on new test strips what does pool need?

Maybe too much chlorine bleaching out strips try diluting a sample to see if you can get colour in the strips , try half pool water half tap then quarter pool and three quarters tap if colours appear then you have too much chlorine, also check your pH is below 7.8 as above this chlorine doesn't work properly

Is it safe to go swimming in a pool when the ph is good but the chlorine isn't high enough yet?

It is safe. That just means that the chlorine is not actively killing bacteria. It would be unsafe if there was too much chlorine.

What do you do when your pool has too much chlorine and the pH is still at the correct level?

How do you know that it is too high? If you are using a home test kit it will show the total chlorine, which includes free chlorine and combined chlorine. Only free chlorine can sanitize the pool. Combined chlorine is broken apart by "shocking" the pool with 1L liquid chlorine per 10000L of water in the pool. (For most pools 10L is fine if you're unsure of the pool volume.) Chlorine will disipate on its own anyways. Sidenote: Are you using a lot of chlorine pucks? They contain stabilizer, which is used to keep the chlorine from burning off in the sun too quickly. If it is overused the chlorine will burn off too slowly. Are you getting readings above 10.0 ppm of chlorine? What is too high? Do you smell the chlorine? Then there's not enough chlorine. Simple as that. K

How do you reduce free chlorine in a salt water pool?

Free chlorine is the sanitizing portion of chlorine. You may not want to reduce that. Are the levels excessive? There is a product which reduces or eliminates chlorine but beware. Not a good product if you use too much. What are your readings?

What happens if your pool has too much conditioner. it will not hold chlorine now and the conditioner level is high?

Too much of anything is not good. I'm not sure what you mean by "too much". A general answer would be this: If your pool cannot hold your chlorine, you probably need to add cyanuric acid which is a chlorine stabilizer. Many pool chlorine tablets have this already in them. Get a good DPD test kit, not OTO. You can do a partial water drain, 1/3, then add fresh water and bring your chlorine level up to 8ppm, then allow it come down. I would obviously do this first before adding any acid or chlorine. Keep the filter running 24/7 until the water is properly balanced.

What do you do for eyes after swimming in salt water pools?

We have a salt water pool and have no eye problems. Either you have too much saLt or chlorine. Take a sample to a local pool store for analysys.
