Maybe too much chlorine bleaching out strips try diluting a sample to see if you can get colour in the strips , try half pool water half tap then quarter pool and three quarters tap if colours appear then you have too much chlorine, also check your pH is below 7.8 as above this chlorine doesn't work properly
we used liquid chlorine to raise ours so far it has worked
Hyper chlorination is the raising of pool chlorine levels to 10 - 20 times the normal level, much higher then shocking of a pool which is 5 - 10 times normal.

I would say No, I have shocking dreams all the time, and nothing happened.
I would try shocking the pool.I have run into this problem. a lot of times the pool becomes basically "chemically locked", and although the chlorine level will measure Okay, the free chlorine level is very low. ANSW:: More chlor and longer filter run time. Use a better grade of chlor. k
I'm having a similar problem - 2-3 days after shocking the pool and adding chlorine, the available free chlorine measures low or near zero. I've had the pool for 10 years and never had this problem before. I'm also getting excessive algae growth. I took water to a professional pool store and they analyzed the chemistry for me. Everything was fine EXCEPT I had high levels of nitrates. Nitrates are heavenly food for algae and the chlorine reacts rapidly with everything going on in the pool. I've been told to drain the pool and refill it. Apparently there is no other way to remove nitrates from the pool. I haven't done this yet, but it's on my schedule for this week. Good luck!
When chlorine is added to pool water in the normal manual manner, it reacts with radicals (ammonia, sweat, bacteria etc) and supposedly oxidizes (kills) it. Most times the resultant compound is what is known as a chloramine, or 'chlorine compound' and these are what contribute to all fo the unfavorable aspects related to 'chlorine'. They smell bad, they hurt your eyes, they damage your skin, hair and bathing suit (etc etc). When you 'shock' a pool and raise the free-chlorine level to 10 times the level of the chloramines, the latter are broken down into filterable material and no longer possess their obnoxious properties. This is why a saline system works so well, because the water is constantly shocked as it passes through the electrolytic 'cell'. Therefore, no chlorine smell, no red eyes, no damaged skin, hair and bathing suits. I am not sure if you shock a bromine pool in the same way, but bromine is on its way out due to health concerns relating to 'bromates'. Search the internet for 'bromates' and see what you find. Already a couple of bromine generator companies have closed down reportedly due to the problem.
2.5 times
Usually as much as you want. But after 3-5 times you will have to give a call to Microsoft otherwise they will not allow you register your os.
Basically, you just put a few 3" tabs of chlorine in the dispenser and set it in the pool. Sometimes they have adjustments on the bottom which regulate water flow. I usually leave them open for max flow at all times in order to get the maximum amount of chlorine into the water. Also, make certain that you attach it to the ladder or somewhere convenient because it can float and block the skimmers.
