Oil is very useful, and is used everyday. But if oil is spilled, for example in the ocean. Then it can have an extremely harmful affect on all aspects of aquatic life. Birds' feathers are covered in the oil which ruins the feathers insulating powers. The birds then die from hypothermia. It also ruins corals.

Hope this was helpful. If anyone knows more information, then please feel free to add. :)
