• Tundra: Few trees, many mosses and lichens. Very cold& dry, permafrost with a short growing season. A light, small amount of precipitation because there are orographic clouds that surround the area. Dry thin soil and the top meter is frozen with permafrost.(In the north above the tree line) • Boreal& Taiga forest: Largest Vegetation Region in Canada. Full of coniferous trees. Very cold with a short growing season, enough rain to be plentiful. Topsoil is gray colour, full of acid and infertile. (covers parts of 8 provinces) • Mixed forest: Full of Deciduous and Coniferous trees. Mild but well protected climate, with cold winds. Rain is regular and sometimes abundant. The topsoil is deep gray and full of humus.(Toronto area) • Deciduous forest: Hardwood forest. Hot& long summers, mild winters. Rain is Plentiful, Soil is less acidic but similar to the mixed forest. (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, parts of Quebec& Ontario.) • Grassland: Lots of grasses and few trees. Dry& even to dry for most species to survive. Barely any rain it is VERY hot& dry. Suitable for grazing cows but that's about it for the soil.(Prairie area grasses, near the south) • Cordilleran vegetation: Large coniferous tress lots of grasses& cactus' wide range of temperature, the rainfall is average. A wide range of soil all types.(Most of BC and the Yukon) • West coast forest: Lush forests. It is a rain Forest, very damp and moist/warm. A large amount of precipitation near the cost. The soil is full of humus with lots of minerals and is also very wet.(All the west coast area of B.C)plus Canada is very large.
