There are many more than two. Plates are formed of continental and oceanic crust. Most plates are a combination of the two. Oceanic plate is not a correct term.

Compare and contrast the three plate boundaries?

Oceanic-continental convergence (when an oceanic plate meets a continental plate) & oceanic-oceanic convergence (2 oceanic plates) both involve oceanic plates & subduction. Continental-continental convergence (2 continental plates) involves neither.

What does oceanic plates mean?

oceanic plates are plates that lies under the ocean. oceanic plates are plates that lies under the ocean.

What is oceanic plates?

it keeps the ocean and valcanos away from each other i think

What is 2 collision of 2 oceanic plates?

an earth quake happens when two plates meet

What happens when 2 oceanic plates?

It makes a mountain.

Convergence can occur between what types of plates?

1. oceanic-continental 2. oceanic-oceanic 3. continental-continental

Why are oceanic plates lower than continental plates?

Because continental plates are denser than oceanic. That is why oceanic and continental plates cause subduction zones.

Do continental plates move faster than oceanic plates?

No, oceanic plates move faster than continental plates. This is due to the density of the oceanic plates (basalt is denser). For example, the fastest moving plates are the Pacific plate, Cocos plate, and Nazca plate. All oceanic.

How do the mountains that form along an oceanic-oceanic convergent boundary differ from those associated with an oceanic continental convergent boundary?

the oceanic plates are denser than continental plates, therefore, when oceanic plates and continental plates converge, the oceanic will go under the continental plates. But when two oceanic converge either both will rise to form moutains, or both will sink and cause a trench.

What happens when 2 oceanic plates and 2 continental plates move towards each other?

when 2 oceanic plates move toward(converge)each other they form a lain of VOLCANIC ISLAND ARC.when 2 continenatl plates move toward(converge)each other they form MOUNTAIN BUILDING.

How a trench formed?

a trench is formed when 2 oceanic plates collide
