To be honest, there isn't really an affect. It gives off a booming noise which is always followed by lightning. It can affect people though and give them what is called "Storm Phobia" which means they are frightened of them. If it is a strong thunderstorm it can knock down trees and the lightning can stricken people but it is highly unlikely. It can happen but rarely
