Why does the color of copper sulphate change when an iron nail dipped in it?

When an iron nail is placed in a copper sulphate solution, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution forming iron sulphate, which is green in colour. Therefore, the blue colour of copper sulphate solution fades and green colour appears.

How do you do copper coating on iron powder?

Contacting the iron powder with an aqueous solution of copper (II) salts will produce a copper coating on iron powder: Iron is higher in the electromotive series than copper and therefore will displace copper from the solution, resulting in copper-coated iron and dissolved iron cations. When all of the surface of the iron powder has been coated with copper, the iron will stop reacting because it no longer has access to the copper ions in solution, the access of the iron being blocked by the layer of copper coating the remaining iron powder.

Does lead react with iron sulphate?

Yes, in principle. Iron is higher in the electromotive series than lead; therefore, elemental iron can displace lead from its compounds. If the lead nitrate is in water solution and solid iron is introduced into the solution, reaction will normally occur at least until a coating of elemental lead has formed over all the iron surface that is in contact with the solution. This reaction may be slow, and if the solution is strongly concentrated in nitrate or contains other oxidizing agent(s), the reaction may not occur because of a phenomenon called "passivation" in which the iron is covered with an oxygen containing surface layer that blocks reaction.

What type of hardness?

Hardness is a breaking strength measurement of pellet as multiparticulate dosage form prepared with water (granulation liquid). This hardness is a very important in assessment or characterization of pellet, a good hardness is preferable for coating step of pellet.

A strip of magnesium metal into a solution of copper sulfate?

When we did it the other day what happened was this: the magnesium caused tiny bubbles and little dots of black fell to the bottom of the test tube (Copper I guess). When the reaction stopped, the liquid was still blue. We tried heating the mixture and got a bit more bubbles and 'dots' then we left the test tube for several days. Now the magnesium is coated with a pretty turquise coating of something, the solution is still blue, the dots are still black at the bottom of the tube. So CuSO4 + H2O + Mg should give you MgSO4 (which is soluble) and Cu. I do not know what we have actually got. The chemicals came from a chemistry set...the CaOH was equally not 'right' or rather it was far less 'basic' that I expected hmmm.
