Using muriatic acid to clean masonry is an approved technique, but caution must be exercised. The muriatic acid , even as runoff, is harmful to delicate tissues and any plants in the area. If there is runoff, use lime to neutralize the acid.

Why does concrete contribute to the greenhouse effect?

Concrete is made from cement, and the manufacture of cement releases carbon dioxide that had been sequestered underground for millions of years. Since the greenhouse effect is the result of atmospheric greenhouse gases, principally carbon dioxide, retaining heat, any increase in the atmospheric level of carbon dioxide contributes to the greenhouse effect and therefore to global warming. Because it is made from cement, concrete is an important contributor to the greenhouse effect.

What does effect carbon dioxide in the air?

Combustion (+). Decay of matter containing carbon(+). Respiration, Animals(+). Respiration, Plants(-). Oceans(-). Production of cement dust(+). Curing / aging of concrete(-).

What caused the greenhouse effect to become stronger?

The stronger, or enhanced greenhouse effect is principally the result of human activities that increase the atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and methane. these activities include burning fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas, manufacturing cement and deforestation.

What effect does sulfur dioxide have on buildings?

Should you acid wash concrete before using iron sulfate to stain it?

Im doing my own tests to answer this question. I think the Iron Sulfate reacts with the excess lime in the cement and any acid wash before would liming the staining effect. But as in any stain, testing is vital to find what works for you and your kind of cement\concrete\stucco.

See the Related Links to the left for the answer. Some concrete testing labs have used it to get the dried cement off of their tools.

What will be the effect on specific gravity of cement if some of the sample is lost after weighing?

There is no effect on the specific gravity if some of the sample is removed. The amount of mass will change, but it will still have the same specific gravity. It is basically a density. The specific gravity of 1lb of cement is the same as the specific gravity of 100lbs of cement, you just have more cement.
