The time period that you are referring to is called the summer solstice. It begins around June 21-22 and ends around September 22. This is the time when the earth's path around the sun has forced the Northern Hemisphere to start pointing directly at the sun. At that point, every part of the Northern Hemisphere sees the sun for more than 12 hours and every part of the Southern Hemisphere sees the sun for less than 12 hours. The autumnal equinox occurs about halfway through this event.
Hope this helps ~ CB
There are two different types of equinoxes; the Vernal Equinox which happens on March 21 or 22. There is also a Autumnal Equinox which happens on September 21, 22 or 23.
Spring equinox occurs around March 20 and Fall equinox occurs around September 22 for the Northern Hemisphere. For the Southern Hemisphere these dates are opposite; the Spring equinox is around September 22 and the Fall equinox occurs around March 20.
The solstices are around June 21 for the Summer Solstice and December 21 for the Winter Solstice. The Vernal Equinox is around March 20, and the Autumnal Equinox is around September 22. These mark the official changing of the seasons.
The first day of summer is actually on June 21st. No. June 21st, approximately.
In all parts of the world, in December and July occur soltices and in march and September, equinoxes.
June and December. Specifically, the summer equinox is on June 21 (sometimes June 20) and the winter equinox on December 21 (sometimes December 22).
There is only two equinoxes, Autumnal equinox(fall) starts on Sept. 22 or 23, and Vernal equinox(spring) starts on March 20 or 21.

The first day of spring, or the vernal equinox, is March 21, and it lasts until June 21, which is the first day of summer, or the summer solstice.

Winter Solstice: December 21 (or 22) Summer Solstice: June 21 (or 22) Spring Equinox/Vernal: March 20 (or 21) Autumn/Autumnal Equinox: September 22 (or 23) The days vary depending on the year. One year is approx. 365.25 days, hence a leap year. (.25 times 4= 1, so we add an extra day every 4 years, otherwise the calender would become messed up over time) So, because of that day, the equinoxes and solstices vary.
Equinox. It happens every March 21-22 and September 22-23. ~Earth Science Ninth Edition 2000
