When two continental plates collide, the crust is thickened, buckled and deformed--gaining elevation. Mountain chains are the result; their creation occurring over periods of millions of years.
The type of tectonics where volcanoes occur are continental rift volcanism, hot spot, and continental volcanic arc. The other tectonics are subduction zones and rift valleys on a continental crust.
where two continental plates collide
That's what I'm trying to find out. Can somebody please answer it.! D:
Polders are found in North European Lowlands.
Alpine glaciers are found in mountain valleys
Hot spots are usually found away from plate boundaries.
Collisions Of Continental Plates
Ocean
Volcanoes are usually found where tectonic plates are converging or diverging.

Most basalt is found in the oceanic plates. Most granite is found in the continental plates.

Continental and Oceanic plates.

Oceanic plates are primarily made up of basaltic rock while continental plates are primarily made of granitic rock. Basalt is denser than granite which allows oceanic plates to subduct beneath continental plates.
Continental crust.
