Sedimentary rocks. Igneous and metamorphic rocks take hundreds mostly. However, this does apply to all sedimentary rocks, due to the lengthly processes they go through.

Does it take millions of years for sedimentary rock to form'?

yes it takes million of years for sedimentary rocks to form

How is a rock made?

A rock takes millions of years to form. It is formed underneath the earths crust, where there is immense pressure and heat that compacts minerals to form rocks.

What rock takes thousands of years to form?

A sedimentary rock takes thousands to million of years to form because it is formed from lava (or magma). After thousands and millions of years, allowing the rock to cool, forms a rock shape, which we call a sedimentary rock. Please don't copy and paste this answer to present it as your own. How long does it takes for the minerals within a rock to form?

It can be a matter of hours or a process taking millions of years depending on the formation method of the rock.

How long does it take for a rock to change to another form?

millions of years

How long does a sedimentary rock take to form?

An igneous rock can form in minutes or take millions of years, depending on the rate of solidification and cooling of magma. The processes leading to the creation of the magma can also take millions of years.

Why is it impossible for someone to see the transition from an igneous rock to a sedimentary rock?

It takes a very long time (millions of years) and occurs at high pressure deep within dense sediments. Igneous rocks form from magma or lava, then are slowly eroded into tiny particles (sand, silt, clay) that when buried and compressed may form a hard sedimentary rock. The time scale can be from millions to hundreds of millions of years.

Why does it take thousands or millions of years to create sedimentary rocks when it may only take minutes to form igneous?

It takes a while for sedimentary rocks to form because it has to be broken into smaller pieces. It can be formed at the surface of the rock or the crust of the rock.

What happens to sediments after a million years?

It would form a Sedimentary Rock from heat and pressure after a millions of years.

How fast does the rock cycle happen?

Of course, that doesn't happen over night. It takes millions of years.

How can sedimentary rock form another rock?

Sedimentary rock can form another rock by being tossed and thrown into the water it takes about maybe 10 years for Sedimentary rock to form another rock.

How long could the rock cycle take for rocks to change?

Although some say it takes millions, maybe billions of years, it doesn't actually take that long. From my research, I have come to the conclusion that it only takes thousands of years not millions or billions
