The first modern semiconductor diode was made with germanium. These diodes were invented in ww2 for RADAR.
But before that semiconductor diodes were made with galena (lead sulfide), copper oxide, and selenium. I have no idea which was "first".
To measure the local pressure of the Earth's atmosphere, Torricelli invented the first Mercury Barometer.
The first invention invented on earth is Stone tools, invented 2,600,000 years ago. It was found in 1969 in Kenya.
It is impossible to say who was the first inventor or what they invented.
USA
What is considered to be the first "true" microscope was invented in Holland in about 1595.
The first diode was the Galena Cats Whisker. It was invented shortly after the development of radio, but I'm not sure by who.Fleming's vacuum tube diode came shortly afterwards.
Robert Hall invented the first semiconducter laser for CD players :)
Today, all diodes are semiconductor diodes. However, the first diodes were piles of washers of different metals that together made a diode, and specially constructed vacuum tubes. There may still be markets for other types of diodes in very high voltage circuits, but you or i are unlikely to come in contact with them.
Nick Holonyak Jr. had one of those bright ideas that lit up the world. In 1962, he invented the first practical red light-emitting diode (LED).
The Bipolar junction transister was invented in 1947 at Bell Labs. This was actually the first successfully constructed semiconductor device. But the theory and idea for semiconductors went back to the mid 1920's, and the first patent for a semiconductor device was issued in about 1936 to Julius Lilienfeld.
Thomas Edison invented light because he made light so why not bulbs
Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments and Robert Noyceof Fairchild Semiconductor working independently of each other invented the first integrated circuit.
This is very old germanium diode and nomenclature comes before a standard had been established for semiconductors. They modeled 0A after the vaccum tubes where 0 - zero means 0Volts filament voltage and A meant single diode. Latter , semiconductor nomenclature come where the first number was telling a number of PN junctions followed by N (this is for US), Japanese and Europeans had different naming standards
The earliest electronic device was the diode which was invented in 1873. The first diodes were both crystal and thermionic valve (vacuum tube) based devices; the first valve diode was in 1873, the first crystal diode in 1874. Edison also developed a diode independently. In the early 20th century, the first triodes were developed - which could amplify signals and electronics was largely valve based until the early 1960s, despite transistors being developed in 1923.
The first pantomime that was ever invented was by a man called Inbuled Gardos
LED, which stands for Light Emitting Diode, generate light using a semiconductor material. As the voltage is applied to the semiconductor, the energy that is used by the LED is converted into light energy.Different semiconductors produce different types of light. Red and green were discovered first, followed by yellow, orange, blue and finally white. This is usually Green and No chemicals , dont care, dont know
The first practically useful semiconductor device seems to have been the cat's whisker detector which was based on Bose's invention of 1904. For more information please see the wikipedia article entitled semiconductor.
