Because We have to break the bonding O & H in water's OH- ion and that H- ion attaches to the another H- ion.And this form the Hydrogen Gas.

But while on heating Water it is just converting its state to gaseous state at about 100oC

because ice can be melt at room temperature but water can not be convert into steam directly at room temperature, in order to convert it into steam we have to supply energy in the form of heat.

What energy does the steam engine use?

steam engine uses thermal energy to convert water into steam and then uses pressure of steam to move the engine .thus thermal energy into pressure and further pressure into mechanical energy.

Why considerable heat energy is needed to convert 1g of water into 1g of steam at 100c without any change in temperature taking place?

There is heat needed to transform the configuration of liquid water to gaseous state. This is change of state energy changes the configuration without changing the temperature.

How much energy is needed to convert ice to water on the moon?

none

How do you convert chemical to mechanical?

Coal is a chemical compound which contains chemical energy. To convert coal into mechanical energy, you use it (burn it) to produce heat and use the heat to boil water, the steam from which will drive a steam engine which delivers mechanical energy.

How do you convert thermal energy into motion?

The most usual way to convert thermal energy (i.e., heat) into motion is by means of a steam engine. You boil water, the steam pushes on a piston, and the piston can then move whatever it is that you want to move.

What kind of energy is needed by plants to convert the raw materials?

sun and water

Is geothermal energy pollutional?

Geothermal energy uses the heat of the Earth to boil water to steam and convert the steam to electricity and/or heating. No fuel means no emissions. No emissions means no pollution.

How does gas power plant work?

Natural gas is burned beneath boilers containing water. The water boils and becomes steam. The expanding steam spins turbines which convert the rotary motion into electricity using generators. The steam is condensed back into water, more gas is burned, and the process is repeated. Essentially, the chemical energy of the gas is converted into mechanical energy in the generator via steam which becomes electrical energy.

Is steam a fuel?

No. it is an energy repository. Fuels of various kinds are used to heat water into steam. the steam has more energy than the water.

How do you convert thermal to electric energy?

Thermal energy produce water into steam, the pressure OS steam runes the turbine & electric energy is produced.

Why does water stay at the same temp after it starts to boil?

It takes a certain energy to convert water to steam. Any additional energy you supply to the water, as heat, will be taken away by water converting to steam. The maximum temperature of a liquid is its boiling point so water shows constant maximum temperature 100o Celsius (if it is pure).

Is steam condensation?

Yes, it is. When steam condenses into water, the water molecules lose energy and this energy is transferred to the surroundings. Loosing energy is exothermic.
