At the time Africa was not as united as it now. Considering it is still a divided continent, this must be taken into consideration. The only country where war was fought in Africa was Libya. At the time Libya had no central government, and is pretty much like what Somalia is today. Run by pirates and warlords. German forces marched right in and those pirates ran like hell. Technically, since German forces were simply camped in desert trenches, not many villages and no major cities were affected by the war. Perhaps some villages had food stolen from them and this may have caused a slight food shortage to a particular region, but aside from this Africa's economy was not affected by WW2 in the slightest.
