The European union was formed in 1951 just after WW2. It was created to help traders to sell and transport coal and other itemscheaper. Now it is helpful to Europeans as it allows them to travel anywhere in Europe and aims to help poorer countries find work, all they ask in return is thousands of pounds per head per year, for the peaceful removal of nation states and national identity, personal liberty, civil and human rights, democracy, freedom and to not be criticised when it destroys Europe economically. All of this and you get to travel around for free! (so do millions of Eastern Europeans!).
Some point out that the EU is an undemocratic organisation whose laws are passed by unelected civil servants, which then take priority over the laws of the member countries.

The five main institutions of the European Union are the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council of the European Union, and the Court of Justice of the European Union. The European Commission proposes legislation and implements decisions, while the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union share legislative power. The European Council sets the EU's overall political direction and priorities, and the Court of Justice ensures that EU law is interpreted and applied consistently across member states. Together, these institutions play crucial roles in the governance and functioning of the EU.
