Must be programed by a Dealer
If you're asking about adding a NEW keyless remote, only a dealer can do that. It's a very specialized piece of equipment that can add the new remote to your vehicle's computer. If you're asking about RE-programming your keyless remote after replacing the battery, check the inside cover of the remote. It should give instructions on how to solve your problem.
Follow the written directions that came with the new keyless entry system - OR - take it to the Saturn dealership for programming. The have all the necessary equipment and proprietary software for doing that task.
There are two levels of "programming" of a Saturn keyless remote: 1. If you are just replacing the battery, follow the instructions on the inside of the remote. 2. If you old remote has failed and you want to use a replacement remote, you have to take it to an authorized GM dealer; only THEIR computer can program the replacement remote to your vehicle. 3. Try looking for someone with a TECH2 scanner that's what the GM guys would use, not OBD2 like they have at auto parts stores. 4. Find an auto locksmith. I found a local one at autolocksmithfinder.us I had mine done for almost half the price the dealer wanted
The Saturn dealership did all three of mine free of charge.
You can program the keyless entry remote, for your 2001 Saturn L200, by holding the unlock and lock weapons at the same time. The red light will flash on and off. The remote will be programmed when the red light stays illuminated.
That's a dealer item.

The location of the remote keyless entry module on a 1998 Saturn is in the rear of the passenger compartment. It is underneath the trim at about shoulder height by the right rear seat.
Pass. side rear, behind shoulder strap of seatbelt
Disabling the keyless ignition security lock on a 2007 Saturn can be done by programming the security locks. Turn the ignition to run, without actually starting the engine, and press the unlock switch for eight seconds.
Pop open the remote and change with a 3 volt watch battery. Then press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons while standing near the car. It takes about 10 seconds.
I too have a Saturn ls2 2000. The car can be programed to the remote by turnning the key on and off a certain number of times (and some say holding down the un-lock button while doing so) will put the car's remote receiver in program mode. Then up to 4 remotes may be use by pushing the lock or unlock buttons on each remote. I'm sorry the directions are not exact but that's why I'm here, looking for the exact instructions. keyless entry must be programmed using a tech 2 scan tool by the dealer If you look in the owners manual there are a few things you can do but if you are replacing both fob's you need a scan tool
