Absolutely. I played football for my high school and me as well as several other people were screwed out of playing time because the people playing ahead of us had the bigger names even though we were better then some of the starters. For example, a kid on our team is the nephew of Michigan football coach Brady Hoke and when he was a sophomore he wasnt even a JV starter but coincidentally the year after his uncle is hired at Michigan he is in a Varsity rotation on the D-Line and got solid playing time. Another example, our starting safety sucks and i mean was terrible but since his dad was a sports legend at our school he started when he probably shouldnt have even been playing football. There are many more examples like these on the football team alone but i play Rugby as well and politics is big there as well. One of my friends doesnt show up to ANY of the practices for rugby but because his dad is a coach he starts. I'm sure there are many more examples in other sports but as far as football and rugby is concerned it's ridiculous how much politics plays into the decisions coaches make. Quite frankly high school sports is all about who you know and who you blow.
