Valley park Middle School has earned numerous medals and awards for excellence. While this alone is not the definitive of what makes a school "good," it is an element.

What decides whether a school is "good" is the record of performance of the students who matriculate from it.

Student Demographics show that the ethnic make up of VPMS is close to the national average. Performance on the Missouri Assessment Program have dipped slightly (2008-2011), but remain in the mid 50% range for Communication Arts, and are improved slightly in Math from 69% in 2008 to 72% in 2011. They appear then to compare relatively equally with other similar schools in Missouri, but do score about 10% lower than the two middles schools nearby, Southwest MS and Rockwood South MS. So academically, they appear to be adequate, if not needing a little improvement.

Student to teacher ratios are excellent for the middle school environment at 13:1.

The Great Schools site rates VPMS a 9 out of 10.
