This depends on many factors, are you applying to BYU-Provo, BYU-Hawaii, or BYU-Idaho? Some schools are easier to get into than others. Your GPA will be combined with your ACT or SAT scores, so if you have good test scores your GPA can be lower. Are you being recruited to play sports? Your GPA is of much less interest then. Also if you are not a Mormon or do not live in Utah, you will be more likely to be accepted, regardless of your grades.
In recent years, the acceptance rate for freshman has been 70%, with the average person having a 3.8 GPA and a 28 ACT or 1250 SAT score. Note that BYU does unweighted GPA's, meaning that Honors, AP, and IB credit does not give you extra GPA points. The highest GPA possible is 4.0.
