The Hebrew word yará (ירא) means "to be in awe of". The KJV mistranslated it as "fear" probably because in the 17th Century, this was a closer translation.

Also, I don't think you mean "Old English" because that is a different language that went extinct about 800 years BEFORE the King James Bible was written. I think you mean "Early Modern English", which refers to the English of the KJV Bible.
