Most 4-year colleges offer a program to get you through in 4 years, but that may be pushing it with 17-18 hours some semesters so usually 4.5-5 years at an abet accredited college will get you to the door. Passing the FE should get you in the door, and 4 years after you pass the FE, you can take the PE (to become a professional engineer). Often times in these 4 years, engineers get work experience and often times, get their masters, which takes off one of the 4 years.
