Anything living in the earth requires protein. That is , humans [children, adults], plants, animals and etc need proteins to survive. Our finger nails, skin, hair, gum [holds teeth], eyes, movement, all use proteins to carry out their function. How do we get proteins? Well they are made in our body so it is very important that we give the body the things it needs in order to make it. Think of it as LEGO blocks. To build a Lego house, you need to use the small pieces to build the house. If you don't have any small pieces left, you cannot build the house. This is the same idea as proteins. The small pieces come from the food we eat i.e. fruits, vegetables, red meat, etc .. and so eating these things we enable our body to build the protein which is needed to grow finger nails, hair, renew skin (skin repair) and etc.

This is why it is important for everyone, especially at ayoung age, to eat all the necessary veges and fruits daily.
