Well, since we are Americans, we speak English. There isn't much of a point to speak Spanish, but it's still great to learn because what if a person from Mexico or Spain comes along the United States of America, then we would be able to communicate with the person.

That seems a little judge mental, but i think we should have the right to chose either way. People are crossing the boarder illegally thats one of the main reason we have spainish.
It really depends on what you want to do with your life and where you live. If you live in an area where Spanish is a heavy spoken language (IE. Most of the southern states in the US), then it is probably an important class to take, since it will give you an advantage when you are looking for work.
If you are looking to get into a college, most require at least two years of a foreign language (though some require three years). This though could be completed with any foreign language, not necessarily Spanish.
It also depends on what sort of school system that you have. Some schools require that you have so-many years of Spanish to be able to qualify for graduation, in which case a foreign language would be very important.
It's really your decision if the class is "important". If you need the class to get into college or to graduate, then yes, it's important. If you need the class to excel in a job career, then I would think that the class is important.

It depends. If you take normal Spanish class, then you will learn "International Spanish". Its the Spanish that everybody will understand. Like for example, in Mexico, for "pen" they use "pluma". But in 'International Spanish", they will teach you "boligrafo". So it all depends on where you take it, and specific classes.
