As the old saying goes Healthy Body = Healthy Mind. It has long been understood that a lot of business gets done in social environments (e.g. the Golf course) where people are taken out of the office, can spent uninterrupted time with the clients or customers, with a little bit of competitive elements thrown in for good measure. Far Eastern societies and companies have for a longtime also understood the benefits of doing yoga before work. In today's competitive world, there is a growing realisation that exercise or play can be very good at developing creativity and innovation, as a method for allowing subconscious thoughts to emerge - have you every struggled with a problem, then done something physically different (e.g. go for a walk) and then the solution pops into your mind. Physical activities can do all these things as well as keeping staff healthy (less day's off sick), motivated and can act as a reward.
