For example, you would freak out when you turned thirteen, freak out if you turned into an age of a multiple of thirteen, freak out when you see a black cat, freak out when someone next door celebrates Halloween, and puts out a fake black cat, our even a sticker, freak out when you even crack a mirror, and go into depression for 7 years (because if you broke a mirror, you would have 7 years of bad luck if you were superstitious), freak out if he date was "month/13/year", and go crazy (probably) if you met my brother's friend. He LOVES the number 13.

Superstitions are intrinsic to humankind. We find "cause and effect" in much of what we do and observe around us. Most superstitions are harmless enough and really should not be given too much credence. When humankind has advanced far enough to be able to understand and control things like "luck" superstitions will no longer be necessary, but for now, I do not see that happening in the foreseeable future.
