Well supposedly it's supposed to give you cleaner emissions as well as improved fuel mileage. This is because diesel fuel is more dense (or less pure) than regular octane gasoline. That makes it last a lot longer. Most Volkswagen cars (2011-present) are running on diesel as we speak. They may have run on diesel in the past, but I'm not sure about that. The downside to having diesel is, because it's more dense, it is more difficult for the engine to turn over in the extreme cold. On the show Ice Road Truckers, their trucks constantly run because the temps in Alaska and Canada can reach well below -30 or even -40 degrees Fahrenheit. If those trucks turn off at any point it's nearly impossible to turn them back on.
