How do you convert 230v to 208 volts single phase?

A source of 208 volts can be obtained from any two legs of a three phase four wire 208 volt system. The two legs are classed as single phase 208 volts. The lead tags can be L1-L2, L2-L3, or L3-L1 all of which will give you 208 volts. Any of these lead tags to the grounded star point (wye) will give you 120 volts.

Can you collect one 220 volt phase from a 380 volt three phase plug?

Answer for UK and countries running a 50 Hz supply service.The voltage potential of 380 volts is not common to North America.It will probably be difficult to tap into the plug to get the voltage.If you have a three phase 380 volt supply from a source then you can obtain a single phase voltage of 220 volts from it. 220/380 is a wye voltage connection. 380 divided by 1.73 will give you 220 volts. L1 - N = 220V, L2 - N =220V, L3 - N = 220V. L1 - L2 = 380, L2 - L3=380, L3 - L1 = 380.

How do you wire a single voltage 3-phase motor with 12 leads?

12 Lead, Single Voltage, Wye Start - Delta Run. Wye start; L1 to 1 and 7. L2 to 2 and 8. L3 to 3 and 9. All joined together 6,12,4,10,5 and 11. Delta run; L1 to 1, 6, 7, and 12. L2 to 2, 4, 8, and 10. L3 to 3, 5, 9, and 11. To reverse the direction of the motor interchange L1 and L2 of the supply voltage.

What voltage reading would you get from a 277 480 volt system?

From a three phase four wire distribution system the voltages would be as follows. From L1 to N - 277 volts. From L2 to N - 277 volts. From L3 to N - 277 volts. From L1 to L2 - 480 volts. From L2 to L3 - 480 volts. From L3 to L1 -480 volts.

Is L1 white or black wire?

In most circumstances and electrical schematics L1 is black and L2 is white. L1 is usually the "hot" wire and L2 is the "neutral".

How do you convert a three phase power supply into single phase power supply?

You can take three separate single-phase circuits from a 3-ph generator. Just use one of the live wires plus the neutral to make a single-phase supply. <<>> A three phase generator does not have to be converted to single phase. In electrical terminology any two legs from a three phase system are classed as single phase. No matter what voltage the generator is producing, L1 - L2, L2 - L3, L3 - L1 are classed as single phase legs along with L1 - N, L2 - N, L3 - N. If the generator output voltage is not the voltage that you are looking for use any two legs of the generators output voltage and use a transformer to obtain the voltage that you need.

On a 220 volt electric motor which is the neutral wire L1 L2 or L3?

If the motor wire numbers are L1, L2 and L3, it is not a single phase motor. It is a three phase motor. Also for future reference, a 220 volt single phase motor does not use a neutral.

Can a single phase supply be used in a three phase supply?

Yes. This is often done in distribution boards.

Can you convert transformed 3 phase 200 volt to single phase 200 volt?

In a three phase that means there are three lines live. Lets name the first line L1, second one L2 and the last L3. If you would connet it to a three phase motor then you require L1, L2 and L3 to be connected either in star or delta connection. Rating of your motor should be 200V, 3 phase , x HP ( star or delta connected). If you have a single motor of 200V then you only need to connect two lines of the three., namely either L1 to L2 , L1 to L3 or L2 to L3.

What voltage would be measured from any phase to ground on a 480 volt 3 phase wye system?

A voltage of 277 is the line to neutral (ground) voltage of a 480 volt wye three phase system. L1- N, L2 - N and L3 - N will give you 277 volts. L1 to L2. L2 to L3 and L3 to L1 will give you 480 volts.

Can you wire a 3 phase wye into 3 single phases?

Single phase power can be taken from a three phase system. Any two legs of the three phase system, taken together, are considered to be single phase. The legs can be any of the following combinations, L1 - L2, L2 - L3 and L3 - L1. On a three phase four wire system, called a wye connection, any line to the grounded neutral is also considered single phase. L1 - N, L2 - N and L3 - N.

When 3 phase step down transformer primary side 2 phase came?

You cannot obtain a two-phase supply from a three-phase system. What you are referring to is a 'split-phase' single-phase system, in which one phase of the transformer's delta secondary is centre tapped, with that tap then being grounded and providing the neutral connection; the outer ends of the same winding provide two line ('hot') connections, L1 and L2. The potential difference between L1 and L2 is then 240 V, whereas the potential difference between either L1 or L2 and the neutral is 120 V.

How do you get line voltage from a single phase 3 wire system?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hz supply service.A three wire system uses two lines L1 and L2 and a Neutral. You can obtain a 120 volt potential from L1 to N or 120 volt potential from L2 to N. Between L1 and L2 you can obtain a potential of 240 volts.

Should 2 legs of 480 volt 3 phase each have 480 volts?

Across a 480 volt three phase system, 480 volts should appear across L1 and L2, L2 and L3 and L3 and L1.

In a 220 volt AC single phase circuit the voltage from either leg to the neutral is?

The proper terminology is L1,L2,N. N is for neutral and it is this wire that is grounded. The voltage measurement from the L1 to N will give you 120 volts. Also from L2 to N will give you 120 volts and as you know from L1 to L2 will give you 240 volts. Single pole breakers in the panel board starting at the top, alternate between L1 and L2 all the way down to the bottom. These breakers all have 120 volt outputs. If you plug a 2 pole breaker into two slots then you get 240 outputs because L1 and L2 are adjacent to one another.
