In conductors having sharp ages, electric field lines bulge out non uniformly.

Let me be specific with a parallel plate capacitor.Herein at the ages of plates ,pattern of field lines is different from that within the dielectric. While inside dielectric they are straight,at corners they are bent.

EFFECT: Due to bending of field lines flux is not properly linked with second plate which leads to NET DECREASE in capacitance.

Can you by-pass a capacitor in an electric motor?

You can not by-pass the capacitor in an electric motor. Most are capacitor-start motors which require the capacitor to be operational in order to start. If the capacitor is not working then it will need to be replaced.

Why is there a C in the equation for a discharging capacitor?

The C represents the capacitance (in farads) of the capacitor. It is a measure of how much charge a capacitor can hold. This is needed to know how much energy the capacitor is holding.

Can a larger capacitor be used in an air conditioner?

Function of Capacitor in Air Conditioner:Compressor Motor Capacitor: This air conditioning capacitor usually consists of two capacitors that are combined. This vital capacitor gets the motor running in the air conditioning unit.Start Capacitor: This capacitor provides auxiliary support and that is not a standard on every air conditioning unit. It can give the motor a boost to get it started.Indoor Blower Motor Capacitor: This capacitor is self-explanatory. It is responsible for starting the indoor-blower-motor and keeping it running efficiently.Outdoor Fan Motor Capacitor: The name says it all for this capacitor. It starts the outdoor fan and keeps the air flowing through the coils that run on the outside of an air conditioner.

What is the difference between capacitor and capacitance?

A capacitor is a device that stores an electrical charge, or if you prefer- resists any change in voltage applied to it. Capacitance is a measure of the size or ability of a capacitor to do that. This is the Farad

How do you calculate fringing capacitance?

The best way is to use an EM solver, such as FastCap from MIT. Numerous published papers also describe the best-fit formulae to calculate fringing capacitances by hand. Try reading "Modeling of interconnect capacitance, delay , and crosstalk in VLSI," by Wong et al., IEEE Trans. Semi. Manufacturing, v13, n1, February 2000, pp108, and the references therein.

Hi, if you really wanna reduce magnetic fringing effect, then you have to keep + side in water for two days and then can have a test of effect streangth, it will be reduced to 50%.

As an island sinks, the fringing reef gradually becomes a barrier reef. If the island continues to sink, the barrier reef eventually becomes a signature atoll.
